Hooray! yesterday (Sunday 25th) I completed the February 100km challenge in amongst beating a personal record on the gym bikes. I chalked up 103.7 placing me in 87 ( as it stands) although their listings seem a bit jumbled and I could be a couple of places higher. It’s not the end of the world though to be honest it was just nice to get the target reached and with the entry and evidence being approved, it’s just a few days and I a medal shall be received.
It was of course in aid of charity and the chosen charity for this event was Challengers (disability-challengers.org). It’s a charity that helps disabled children to be able to have fun through inclusive exciting and challenging play and leisure opportunities. They have schemes that cover ages 2-5, 4-12, 13-18 and 18-25. Currently they support disabled and young people in Surrey, Hampshire and a few other places. It’s good to know that I have helped contribute to a worthwhile charity whilst keeping relatively fit….
Whilst I did it, I have to say I will not be anytime soon doing another 100km in a month event. I did challenge myself but trying to fit it all in amongst other events, it was very close to the end. I will be though doing more short distance events and have two in March and one in April. March sees the 5km Run like a Time Lord and the Italian Jog which is a minimum of 10km. In regards to Run Like a Time Lord, Im not sure if there is any specific way of running is it a general run or as if being chased by a Dalek or another Dr Who baddie? Of course I could always run like the Master maybe….. This charity is the National Autistic Society. The Italian Jog 20% minimum of every entry will be donated to Solidarity Sports.
April sees one the RAF Virtual Challenge for the RAF Benevolent Fund. Thankfully this one has no limit, so I can clock up as many miles as I can through the month of May although it will be more than just one mile. This year marks 100 years of the Royal Air Force. Could I do 100 miles? probably not but it will be as many as I can during the month.
Nothing else is planned as yet, but who knows, it might just be standard gym time. I guess I’ll have to wait and see.
